Anthropic Releases Agent Templates for Financial Services
Anthropic has released ten agent templates for financial services and insurance, paired with a new Microsoft 365 add-in ecosystem — a move that pushes AI agents from productivity tools into the core workflows of banking, insurance, and asset management.
The templates cover the most time-consuming work in finance across two categories. Research and client coverage includes: a Pitch Builder that generates target lists, runs comparables, and drafts pitchbooks; a Meeting Preparer that assembles client briefs ahead of calls; an Earnings Reviewer that reads transcripts and filings; a Model Builder that creates financial models from data feeds; and a Market Researcher that tracks sector and issuer developments. Finance and operations includes: a Valuation Reviewer, General Ledger Reconciler, Month-End Closer, Statement Auditor, and KYC Screener.
Each template ships as a reference architecture with three layers: skills (instructions and domain knowledge), connectors (governed data access), and sub-agents (specialized models called by the main agent). The templates can run as plugins inside Claude Cowork and Claude Code, or as managed agents on the Claude Platform for autonomous, scheduled execution.
Alongside the templates, Anthropic launched Microsoft 365 add-ins that embed Claude directly into Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook (coming soon). In Excel, Claude builds financial models from filings and audits formulas across linked workbooks. In PowerPoint, decks update automatically when underlying numbers change. In Outlook, it triages inboxes and drafts responses. Context carries across all four applications — work started in Excel doesn’t need re-explaining in PowerPoint.
These releases pair best with Claude Opus 4.7, which leads the industry on Vals AI’s Finance Agent benchmark at 64.37%.
